Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge to lead our long-term care pharmacy team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the overall operations of our pharmacy, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic planning and management of pharmacy operations, including input and dispensing departments
  • Monitoring pharmacy expenses to maintain budget requirements
  • Ensuring safe and efficient workflow in pharmacy dispensing
  • Providing high-level customer service to facilities serviced
  • Developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and processes for safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication use
  • Recommendations for process and policy improvements to ensure quality patient care and increase revenue
  • Development and maintenance of KPIs, including compliance metrics and root cause analysis
  • Preparation and coordination of dispensing pharmacist and pharmacy technician schedules
  • Active participation in Pharmacy Compliance Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
  • Analysis of processes and collaboration with employees to develop and implement methods to improve internal and external quality
  • Determination of staff needs and qualifications to meet patient care requirements and satisfy regulatory needs
  • Evaluation and advice on short- and long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies
  • Routine evaluation of pharmacy staff
  • Ensuring all pharmacy staff are licensed, certified, and/or registered and have completed mandatory continuing education
  • Planning and implementation of procedures according to policies, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Maintenance of confidentiality of work-related information and materials in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Knowledgeable and compliant with current company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations
  • Routine and effective communication of expectations with pharmacy staff
  • Maintenance of proficiency with computer systems
  • Successful completion of required training
  • Knowledge of pharmacy industry, Medicaid, CMS, and other state/federal regulations
  • Effective organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Continual striving for quality standards
Requirements
  • Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of progressive management experience, preferably in a long-term care pharmacy
  • Active Tennessee Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist license
Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a standard office environment. Position may require flexible hours, unscheduled overtime, or occasional weekend work. Must be able to speak and write in English. Travel may be required.
