ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a State Dog Warden, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Enforcing the Pennsylvania Dog Law and Rabies Law (Act 181).
- Conducting inspections to verify dog licensing compliance.
- Addressing complaints regarding dogs running at large and investigating dog bite incidents.
- Implementing quarantines to protect public health.
- Investigating claims of damages caused by dogs to livestock or poultry and preparing reports for compensation.
- Examining suspected illegal activities related to dog transportation or euthanization.
- Monitoring out-of-state dealers and unlicensed kennels.
- Responding to complaints about illegal operations and inhumane conditions in kennels, ensuring thorough investigations and detailed reporting.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time position.
- Standard work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break.
- This role will be home headquartered in Butler County.
- Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in certain cases.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Experience and Training:
- Two years of experience in dog law enforcement, animal control, animal welfare, or related fields; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle license is required.
Additional Requirement:
- Ability to perform essential job functions is necessary.
