The Childhood Behavioral Support Consultant is a specialized position funded through a grant from the West Virginia Department of Education, situated at the West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University.
This role primarily serves the Eastern Panhandle region of West Virginia, encompassing several counties including Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, Mineral, Grant, Hardy, and Pendleton. Candidates are expected to reside within 20 miles of this area.
Key Responsibilities:
The Childhood Behavioral Support Consultant will:
Lead collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational framework within West Virginia to ensure effective delivery of behavioral and mental health interventions.
Provide training, support, and coaching to educational staff on multi-tiered systems of behavioral and mental health support.
Work alongside the West Virginia Department of Education to create, coordinate, and implement professional development programs for educators and administrators focused on early childhood positive behavior strategies, school-based mental health, and effective classroom management techniques.
Oversee the creation and execution of multi-tiered support plans for children with autism and other behavioral or mental health challenges.
Foster collaborative relationships with mental health providers in both school and community settings to facilitate the delivery of mental health services for students.
Train and support school personnel in developing and utilizing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Support Plans.
Assist regional teams in tracking, analyzing, and interpreting fidelity and outcome data.
Maintain comprehensive records of all technical assistance provided.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Associate Director, or Director of Technical Assistance.

Compensation:
$56,270 - Salary commensurate with experience and internal equity
Required Qualifications:
Education:
The Behavioral Support Consultant must possess a master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, education, or a related field that equips them to understand and provide behavioral support to school-aged children.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in leading interdisciplinary teams, demonstrating the ability to execute goal-oriented tasks, and being available for necessary statewide travel related to this role.
