About the Role:

This position supports the Tax Department primarily and foremost within indirect tax compliance and GAAP tax accounting.

Responsibilities may include sales tax, property tax, local licensing, and unclaimed property, state and local tax registrations, occasional assistance with and income tax preparation, and basic tax research in all tax areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of the monthly SUT compliance process for moderate to complex legal entities.
  • Securing data from various subsidiaries AR systems and SAP
  • Reconciling data against general ledger activity
  • Compiling and analyzing supporting workpapers
  • Return preparation
  • Return filing and remittance
  • Preparing journal entries after filing
  • Maintain and update tax rate schedules by location
  • Gather supporting information for audits and work with the Senior Manager on audits
  • Maintain excellent communication and develop professional relationships with the business units
  • Local Licensing
  • Maintain calendar / checklist and process all domestic renewals on a timely basis
  • Prepare registrations for new locations and remote employees in new jurisdictions
  • Property Tax compliance
  • Support as needed to the personal property tax compliance process for all domestic locations:
  • Securing data required for return preparation
  • Maintenance of new locations and document compliance requirements
  • Return preparation utilizing PTMS and submission to appropriate jurisdictions
  • Maintenance of projected tax database for accounting based on expected assessed value, and reconciliation of discrepancies between rendition and assessment.
  • Monitor payment due date schedule to assure timely receipt and payment of bills.
  • Fixed Assets
  • Reconcile and analyze fixed assets for appropriate treatment for calculations, tax depreciation, and tax reporting.
  • Periodic review of fixed asset invoices related to store construction and remodel.
  • Tax Research
  • Research basic state and local issues for all tax types.
  • Special projects
  • Participate in special projects related to Indirect Tax and Income Tax (as needed).
  • Work to streamline tax technology processes across the group.Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
    • 4+ years of relevant accounting, tax or related experience
    • Prior experience in accounting and/or tax, with general ledger reconciliations and Thomson Reuters OneSource, is preferred.
    • Required proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Analysis, Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SAP.
