SUPERVISOR: Designated Classroom Instructor / Principal / OSR Coordinator

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Barbour County Primary School (Grades K - 1)

CONTRACT DURATION: 9-month / 187 days

SALARY: Based on Board Approved Salary Matrix

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Early Childhood Support Educator is responsible for enhancing the instructional framework within designated classrooms by providing assistance in the supervision, care, and educational guidance of students. This role involves supporting the implementation of instructional strategies, monitoring student conduct, and communicating relevant information to appropriate educational staff.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in child development (CDA) or a minimum of nine credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to meet employment suitability criteria as outlined by the Alabama Child Protection Act.
  • Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possesses effective interpersonal skills, focusing on collaboration and communication with diverse groups to enhance student success.
  • Capability to design and execute curriculum tailored to the specific needs of students at the assigned grade levels.
  • Ability to identify and address challenges as a proactive team member.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology for communication, instructional planning, student engagement, data management, and report generation.
  • Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities, including mobility and stamina.
  • Commitment to punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Any alternative qualifications as deemed necessary by the Superintendent.
  • Associate's degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college or a passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Exhibit support for the educational system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development and characteristics of the assigned age group.
  • Understand the prescribed curriculum and current educational methodologies; implement effective instructional practices to meet diverse learning styles and achieve significant educational outcomes.
  • Adapt classroom activities and materials under the guidance of a supervising educator to support and reinforce educational objectives.
  • Provide instruction to students in various individual and group settings, reinforcing learning objectives and facilitating individual educational plans.
  • Assist teachers in administering assessments and reviewing student work.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance job-related knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to communicate information, resolve issues, and deliver services in accordance with established protocols.
  • Regularly confer with teachers regarding student progress and the implementation of educational plans.
  • Implement behavioral intervention strategies under the supervision of the assigned educator.
  • Maintain instructional materials to ensure preparedness for educational activities.
  • Supervise students across various settings to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Perform record-keeping and clerical tasks to support educational staff.
  • Respond to emergencies to ensure student safety.
  • Engage in school improvement initiatives through active participation in school events and programs.
  • Commit to personal professional development and adhere to ethical standards and leadership principles.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school matters.
  • Identify potential issues and opportunities for improvement in assigned responsibilities.
  • Report unusual occurrences or concerns to appropriate administrative personnel.
  • Respond to inquiries and feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Submit reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Utilize and care for school resources effectively while supervising students in their use.
  • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Report absences and prepare for substitutes in accordance with established policies.
