Position Overview

The Mathematics Educator will report directly to the Director of Academics and will be responsible for delivering instruction in the mathematics curriculum.

Qualifications
  • Certification in the relevant educational field
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) with a focus in mathematics or related area
  • Experience in secondary education within an urban setting (three years preferred)
  • Proven teaching experience with diverse student academic levels
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse instructional team
  • Experience in engaging with parents and the community
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, classroom management, and adaptive teaching strategies
  • Open to feedback and committed to professional growth

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Planning and Implementation
  • Develop comprehensive lesson and unit plans
  • Utilize student data to inform instructional strategies
  • Create and implement assessments aligned with curriculum standards, including both formative and summative evaluations
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum development, connecting content to students' local and global contexts

Learning and Development
  • Design and deliver lessons using inquiry-based methodologies
  • Employ a variety of technologies and strategies to differentiate instruction based on students' readiness, learning differences, and interests
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and assessments

Community Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with students
  • Establish regular communication with parents
  • Provide guidance and support through advisory groups
  • Engage actively with new school initiatives
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
