Job Overview

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing and maintaining the sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring proper care of instruments, and assisting with surgical operations in line with hospital standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Effectively assists the physician during surgical procedures Anticipates the needs of the surgeon in preparation for and during the procedure Demonstrates proficiency in handling emergency situations Maintains sterility of all supplies and instruments during surgical setups Collects specimens for pathology, confirming details with the surgeon Safely transports surgical equipment to designated cleaning areas and assists in the cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets Adheres to Standard Universal Precautions, ensuring personal safety and a secure environment Participates in infection control and emergency preparedness activities Follows all safety protocols and demonstrates knowledgeable use of equipment Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff while maintaining confidentiality Maintains required certifications, including CPR Complies with hospital policies and procedures to ensure a safe working and patient care environment Trains new employees on departmental protocols and safety measures Contributes to quality assurance and improvement initiatives Collaborates with surgical teams to identify and resolve recurring practice issues
