Job Overview

The Surgical Technology Supervisor will be responsible for preparing the sterile environment for surgical operations, managing instrumentation appropriately, and assisting in surgical procedures while adhering to hospital regulations and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide efficient and effective assistance to the physician during surgical procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon both in preparation and during the procedure. Exhibit knowledge of specific responsibilities in emergency situations. Ensure the sterility of all supplies and instruments during surgical setup. Accurately retain specimens for pathology, confirming details with the surgeon. Transport surgical equipment to designated cleaning areas and assist in the cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets. Adhere to Standard Universal Precautions, practicing appropriate hand hygiene and utilizing personal protective equipment to maintain safety. Participate in environmental hazard and infection control monitoring and engage in emergency preparedness drills. Follow all equipment and safety protocols, demonstrating knowledgeable use and care of surgical tools. Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff while maintaining confidentiality. Maintain necessary certifications such as CPR as provided by the center. Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe working and patient care environment. Orient new staff to departmental procedures, job descriptions, and available educational resources. Assist in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, contributing to process enhancement plans. Support surgical technologists and clinical staff in identifying recurring issues and participate in the resolution process.
