Job Overview:

The Johnson County Government is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe collection, transportation, and treatment of wastewater generated by our community.

About the Role:

This role involves working in a team environment to support the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility as well as off-site pump stations. You will also assist with electrical maintenance and installation needs at other locations as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and document plant and pump station processes to ensure proper operations and detect common equipment failures
  • Perform specific laboratory analysis for compliance by collecting samples and using standard methods and techniques
  • Assist in performing preventative and general maintenance on assigned equipment
  • Maintain and update operational and maintenance records, logs, and databases
  • Work with the public and other customers by assisting haulers/tankers, delivery drivers, and vendors/contractors

Requirements:

We are looking for individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent and one to three years of experience in a mechanical, maintenance, or vocational trade such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a science field in biology, microbiology, or chemistry. A driver's license and acceptable driving record are also required.

Working Conditions:

This role requires excessive standing and walking, exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, and chemicals, and working at heights. On-call standby work is also required.

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role is between $21.01 and $28.43 per hour, depending on relevant years of experience.
