Job Summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Gross Room team, you will play a critical role in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for diagnostic analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dissect and prepare tissue specimens for embedding, staining, and microscopic analysis
  • Dictate gross descriptions of tissue specimens and hardware
  • Provide instruction and training to residents, fellows, and medical students in tissue dissection techniques
  • Perform frozen section procedures and respond to STAT requests from the frozen section room
  • Prepare and perform specimen radiography of breast, bone, and soft tissue specimens
  • Preserve tissues for ancillary studies and tissue bank
  • Assemble catalogues and preserve specimens for the gross specimen teaching library and Department of Pathology Tissue Bank
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
  • Master's degree from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program
  • One year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment and apparatuses
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret results
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to technological changes in the laboratory

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
