Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Manage and oversee the work of contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contract specifications and plans.
  • Provide daily oversight and supervision of the Operations and Maintenance Unit, including establishing work priorities, developing work schedules, and evaluating performance.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and manage assigned funding to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Operations for hiring, counseling, discipline, and other personnel-related matters.
  • Maintain a work order program in accordance with established policies, including preventive maintenance, rehabilitation of mechanical and structural systems, grounds maintenance, facility repairs and alterations, and other applicable projects.
  • Perform supervisory duties, including training, direct supervision, and completion of performance evaluations for subordinate staff.
  • Maintain local records and ensure proper follow-up on actions and projects.
  • Utilize the Statewide Financial System (SFS) and other applicable databases to manage and track maintenance activities.

This is a contingent permanent, competitive appointment or a contingent permanent, non-competitive appointment. For 55b/c appointment, candidates must possess the minimum qualifications, a current 55b/c eligibility letter, and be subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Promotions and transfers may change appointees' negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of a valid New York State driver's license will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Candidates are required to possess a valid New York State driver's license at the time of hire. Continued employment as a Plant Superintendent B is dependent upon maintaining a valid New York State driver's license. Failure to maintain a valid New York State driver's license will result in removal from employment.

This position allows for the opportunity to telecommute up to 30% each bi-weekly pay period. This position will require up to 20% in-state travel. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $106,454 based on annual performance advances.
