About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our database services team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and reliable database systems that run across thousands of servers worldwide.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work closely with our team to architect, design, and implement highly scalable distributed database systems with availability, reliability, and performance guarantees. You will be responsible for solving challenging technical problems, designing and implementing innovative software solutions, and building high-quality, highly available, always-on products.

We are looking for a top software developer with a good track record of delivering, as well as strong communication, leadership, and customer-focus skills. If you are passionate about databases and large-scale storage technologies, and excited about building database systems that run across thousands of servers across multiple datacenters worldwide, then we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solve challenging technical problems, often ones not solved before, at every layer of the stack.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products.
  • Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience maintaining and/or using large Cassandra cluster.
  • 1+ years experience contributing to Apache Cassandra.
  • 1+ years building large-scale systems or web services.
