Position Overview

The Inpatient Care Physician role is a vital position within the Defense Health Agency, focusing on delivering exceptional medical care to hospitalized patients.

This role is situated in a dynamic healthcare environment, where the physician will engage with a diverse patient population, including young adults and the elderly. The physician will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans, ensuring high standards of medical practice.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Act as the primary physician for the Inpatient Medical Service, undertaking significant responsibilities in the thorough examination, diagnosis, and management of hospitalized patients. This includes conducting detailed evaluations of clinical and laboratory findings, identifying various contributing factors, and prescribing suitable treatment protocols. The physician will monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, collaborating with specialists for complex cases.
  2. Supervise and guide mid-level healthcare providers, including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, ensuring effective delivery of medical services within the Inpatient Medical Services.
  3. Provide administrative oversight to assigned staff, including planning, scheduling, and directing their work. Establish work priorities, deadlines, and clarify work requirements and procedures as needed.

Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Board certification is typically required.

An active, unrestricted medical license is mandatory.
