Nuclear Medicine Physician Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Physician to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for interpreting scans, providing nuclear medicine therapies, and interacting with NM staff to answer questions and obtain optimal imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting and reporting Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT scans in a timely fashion.
  • Providing nuclear medicine therapies, including I-131 sodium iodide and Ra-223 dichloride.
  • Interacting with NM staff to answer questions and obtain optimal imaging.
  • Reviewing and protocoling new routine, inpatient, and urgent incoming nuclear medicine orders.
  • Acting as Authorized User for the service.
  • Interacting with other services and providers to answer questions and prioritize studies.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Work Schedule:

Fee Basis; this system of VA compensation pays based on the specific task or service provided.
