Overview:

The Senior Feed Product Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the marketing and operational aspects of feed ingredient coproducts at a Green Plains biorefinery. This includes a focus on Dried, Modified, and Wet Distillers Grains as well as Corn Fermented Protein. Key duties encompass the development and execution of marketing initiatives for feed merchandising while managing daily logistics. This position also requires collaboration with senior management to enhance and maintain customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with management to optimize plant profitability through effective risk management strategies related to origination, marketing, sales, and transportation.
  • Supervise the merchandising of diverse feed ingredient coproducts at the biorefinery.
  • Oversee inventory management and forward positions to mitigate risk and enhance profitability.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and optimize positions for maximum profitability.
  • Manage daily operations of the Feed Ingredient Trading for designated biorefineries, including coordinating front office activities, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Provide market insights, timing of purchases, and facilitate trading coordination between offices and the corporate merchandising/trading team.
  • Work closely with leadership to understand feed coproduct qualifications and specifications in compliance with USDA and state/national standards, tailored to market zone requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of feed ingredient economics and effectively communicate this information to the Ingredient Merchandising team, Central Plant purchasers, and clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training in agricultural commodity trading or position management.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience in trading physical agricultural products, transportation/shipping, and arbitrage is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the Chicago Board of Trade to effectively engage with leadership on price movements, trends, USDA reports, and future projections.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, with a willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and work effectively in diverse teams.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and business acumen.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to foster positive professional relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and business judgment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating opportunities and risks.
