Job Summary:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant with Denver Public Schools, you will provide essential support for student care that meets program guidelines and performance standards. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, you will work directly with parents, children, and program staff to ensure identified health and dental needs are addressed.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with related laws and policies, such as reporting suspected child abuse and immunization and Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) laws.
Assist with and/or complete health screenings (e.g. vision, hearing, dental, height, weight, etc.); collaborate with parent/guardian and relevant staff to obtain physical examinations as required, per program guidelines.
Review health and nutrition histories and follow up on health concerns; complete health and developmental history.
Determine immunizations are current at the time of enrollment and a written plan is in place to ensure needed immunizations are completed in a timely manner.
Determine or assist in establishing a source of ongoing and accessible medical and dental care.
Collaborate with Registered Nurse and other staff as appropriate to develop Health Care Action Plans for specific health care concerns; maintain ongoing communication with appropriate staff to assure completion and coordination of services to children and families.
Collaborate with nurse and nutrition consultant to obtain healthy weight determination and provide nutrition education to families.
Work with school-based health staff/RNs to consult on medical referrals, and if needed, to provide triage for minor acute illnesses and accidents.
Maintain accurate and organized records, including utilization of District and program databases and other technology platforms, to ensure accuracy of monthly and annual reports.

Requirements:

One (1) or more years of relevant experience; Pediatric experience is preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Must have a valid Colorado driver's license or be able to obtain a Colorado driver's license within the state's required time frame for new residents and meet the District's insurability requirements.
The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance.
Effective communication skills.
Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff, and students.
Works collaboratively with others on a team.
Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to travel to sites across the district.
Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
