Position Title: Middle School Support Staff - Cafeteria Monitor

Reports to: Building Principal or designated representative

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: Staff - 10 month - Class C with benefits as per the LEA Unit D collective bargaining agreement.

11.25 hours per week. $33.19 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides supervision in the cafeteria
  • Ensures student safety and promotes appropriate behavior
  • Cleans tables between lunch periods
  • Offers office coverage during staff lunch breaks or as required
  • Assists in classroom coverage when necessary
  • Aids teachers in preparing class materials
  • Handles copying and laminating tasks
  • Manages phone calls and communications
  • May greet visitors
  • Performs a variety of related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in administrative, clerical, financial, or secretarial work, preferably in an educational setting with children; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.

Must possess knowledge of office management principles and practices, as well as computer systems, word processing, and photocopying. Familiarity with child development is essential.

Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the public, officials, and department personnel; ability to work independently and efficiently; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain record-keeping systems; ability to operate a telephone and standard office equipment; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently; ability to interact tactfully with individuals in challenging situations.

Proficiency in operating computers and relevant word processing software; excellent customer service skills are required. Must demonstrate skill in engaging with children.
