Role Purpose:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability functions at our Texas facility, ensuring that the organization meets its operational, economic, and compliance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Guarantee the safe operation of all functional areas by emphasizing training and enforcing established safety protocols, regularly reviewing and updating them in collaboration with the safety department.
  • Lead the maintenance team, including contracted maintenance personnel.
  • Supervise contractor activities to ensure adherence to company standards.
  • Direct maintenance operations on all process equipment and systems to maintain reliability, safety, health, and environmental compliance while producing quality products.
  • Manage maintenance of utility systems to ensure a continuous supply of essential resources for operations.
  • Plan and execute assigned capital projects, overseeing field installations and startups to ensure compliance with safety protocols and project timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and implement innovative methods and procedures aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) inventory, reducing operational costs, and maximizing labor and material efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program in collaboration with maintenance staff.
  • Drive maintenance initiatives and maintain records to ensure compliance with mechanical integrity and Process Safety Management standards.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance plant performance and ensure that both internal and external customer needs are met.
  • Monitor and uphold the integrity of the physical plant infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with plant and corporate teams to formulate annual budgets, capital expenditure plans, environmental compliance strategies, hazardous waste reduction initiatives, process improvements, new product development, personnel training, and the implementation of new systems.
  • Serve as a resource for technicians in identifying and resolving potential equipment issues.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a predictive/preventative maintenance reliability program, including techniques such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, and oil analysis.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for complex failures as necessary.
  • Report on key performance indicators related to preventive and predictive maintenance for asset management, including cost avoidance, savings, compliance, and corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement optimizations for preventive and predictive maintenance processes.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of advanced predictive maintenance equipment utilizing emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate employee performance accurately and provide coaching to achieve optimal performance, addressing corrective actions as required.
  • Expand the maintenance department to accommodate additional facilities and growth initiatives.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management. (Note: Duties may be classified as essential or marginal based on content.)
  • Engage in discussions with customers, staff, vendors, contractors, and corporate personnel to explore methods for achieving our objectives.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or Electrical Engineering, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in maintenance leadership and reliability practices.
  • Proven experience in preventive and predictive maintenance of rotating equipment, coupled with data analysis and database management in a chemical or petrochemical environment.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a maintenance department, including oversight of pipefitters, mechanics, electricians, and/or instrument technicians is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management is preferred.
