Job Summary

Smith Rowe, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Site Traffic Monitor to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe flow of traffic around our road construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct traffic using hand signals and direction signs to maintain a safe and efficient flow of traffic.
  • Communicate with other crew members using hand-held radios to coordinate traffic movements.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and inform the construction crew of any potential safety hazards.
  • Set up and remove warning and detour signs, barricades, and traffic cones as needed.
  • Record license plate numbers of motorists who fail to obey traffic signs and directions.
  • Provide clear directions to motorists and inform them of possible detour routes.
  • Direct emergency vehicles safely through construction zones as required.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Flagging certification preferred, with training available.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in various weather conditions.
  • Exceptional observation skills and effective communication skills.
  • Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen.
Physical Demands
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, work at heights if required, kneel, squat, bend, push, pull, climb, stretch, see, and hear regularly.
  • Able to push and pull with hands and arms and move repetitively.
  • Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site.
Environmental Working Conditions
  • Work performed outside in all types of weather.
  • Exposure to all elements of nature.
  • Exposure to all types of terrain.
  • Exposure to noises of construction site.
  • Works in close proximity to heavy traffic.
