The role of the Speech-Language Pathologist within an educational environment encompasses the assessment of student communication abilities and the provision of therapeutic services tailored to individual needs, in alignment with established care plans and medical directives.

Position Overview:

Location: Port Orchard, WA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Interview Process: Conducted via virtual platform
Work Environment: Primarily in-person, with limited movement across multiple sites
Caseload: Managing a group of 48-55 students, either at the elementary or secondary level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students' communication skills to identify disorders and determine eligibility for services.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to share information, resolve challenges, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Organize and lead meetings for eligible students, including assessments, IEPs, and parent consultations.
  • Create individualized treatment plans and educational resources to address communication challenges.
  • Instruct students on the use of communication aids and technologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student progress and therapy sessions.
  • Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Deliver speech and language therapy to enhance student communication and academic success.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the relevant state.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
  • Adherence to professional standards and regulations.
  • Completion of required training programs.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Health clearance as per state regulations.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in English.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
