Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemist to join our R&D team at Tremco Construction Products Group, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing innovative nail polish formulations and improving the performance of our current portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute complex product briefs, creating new and improved products, innovative ideas, processes, protocols, and techniques to support project objectives and company goals.
  • Prepare samples for testing, including stability, efficacy, and safety, and monitor stability using approved protocols.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, customers, and suppliers to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Conduct research on assigned technologies and concepts, identifying and evaluating new materials to assess technical performance.
  • Design and conduct studies to assess and understand prototype performance, and initiate patent research and applications as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with competitive products and novel technologies, and recommend product modifications and process improvements.
  • Support other functions of the organization to deliver end-to-end results, including product testing, production, and quality control.
  • Maintain scientific skills and acquire the skills necessary to assure the quality of formulations, and help develop the scientific expertise of the laboratory.
  • Follow current Good Manufacturing, Good Laboratory, and Safety Practices, and maintain accurate written records of experiments and work.
  • Assist in preparing scientific presentations to colleagues and customers.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant industry laboratory experience with proven R&D experience, preferably in nail formulation or nitrocellulose.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical field, such as Chemistry or Biology.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects within a cross-functional organization.
  • Strong technical color expertise, with color matching ability to quickly distinguish and recognize differences in shades.
  • Excellent lab processing techniques and data management.
  • Experience and expertise with viscosity and rheology, and experience in color cosmetic formulations.
