Job Summary

Medstar is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team in providing high-quality orthopedic care to patients. As an Outpatient Orthopedic Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain patient history, and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and understanding.
  • Prepare exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Update the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system with patient information, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and past medical history.
  • Take vital signs as per protocol or directed by physician, and apply, modify, and remove casts, splints, and braces as needed.
  • Prepare injections as directed, process charges for orthopedic durable medical equipment, and maintain and stock orthopedic equipment.
  • Assist physicians with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments, and support patient examination, testing, and education as directed.
  • Label and maintain proper storage of specimens for tests, deliver tests and obtain results, and perform quality control functions of assigned area as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gain their understanding and cooperation with radiographic testing, and position patients correctly to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Take x-rays as ordered to help diagnose medical problems, and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years' work experience in a healthcare setting, preferably a high-volume outpatient setting.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) registration.
  • Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC (District of Columbia) depending on assigned work locations.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Orthopedic X-ray experience preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
