About the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI):
The Indiana Department of Insurance is dedicated to safeguarding residents as they acquire and utilize insurance products, ensuring the protection of their assets and families from potential loss or harm. We assist consumers with claims and help them understand their policies. Salary Information:
The starting salary for this position is typically $59,800.00, though it may vary based on education and work experience.

A Typical Day in This Role:

The key responsibilities of this position include:
  • Conducting risk assessments of annual and quarterly statements, along with other supplemental filings submitted by Indiana domestic insurers, in accordance with National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) standards.
  • Documenting and summarizing the outcomes of risk assessments based on the information reviewed and discussions with insurers and other regulators.
  • Engaging with insurance company executives, internal department personnel, and other regulatory bodies to investigate identified issues, assess company responses, and recommend further regulatory actions if necessary.
  • Researching and verifying compliance with state laws, regulations, and NAIC standards.
  • Gathering and analyzing information from various sources relevant to the financial solvency of insurers and groups.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of risk analyses and documenting findings in accordance with NAIC standards.
  • Reviewing insurance company affiliated transactions promptly.
  • Providing recommendations for solutions to identified problems and actions needed to address issues with troubled insurance companies.
  • Communicating significant adverse findings and relevant information to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Reviewing changes to Certificates of Authority, including new formations, business line adjustments, withdrawals, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Preparing and presenting reports or gathering specific information as requested by management.

Qualifications for Success:
