Surgical Team Member
Job Summary
As a Surgical Team Member at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, you will be an integral part of a highly effective team delivering patient care and assuming responsibilities before, during, and after surgery in accordance with Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and AST Standards of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in direct patient care in the operating room
- Demonstrate appropriate aseptic technique, including scrubbing, gowing, and gloving, draping, counting, and setup according to department policy
- Select and prepare the appropriate supplies and equipment for surgical cases
- Operate all surgical equipment
- Organize instrumentation and the sterile field
- Anticipate needs of the surgeon and pass appropriate instruments
- Participate in general operating room activities
- Participate in PI activities, continuing education, planning, and orientation of new personnel, and emergency preparedness
- Demonstrate awareness of the needs of the department and assigned rooms and tasks
Requirements
- Continuous standing, walking, lifting, handling, and carrying of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs)
- Certifications: BLS
