Job Overview

This position is for a Systems Engineer specializing in the LM2500 engine series. The LM2500 serves as an industrial and marine adaptation of the CF6-80C2 aircraft engine, tailored for oil & gas and electrical applications. The Senior Staff Engineer - Systems Engineer will take the lead in engineering for LM2500 initiatives, which encompass new product launches, cost reduction strategies, reliability enhancements, engine delivery, and investigations into field-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Duties:
  • Understand the extensive range of LM2500 engine models developed over more than 40 years, which include various power ratings, combustor operations, and fuel configurations.
  • Provide strategic guidance to design, manufacturing, instrumentation, testing, and business teams by leveraging comprehensive product knowledge.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Mentoring global design teams and ensuring accountability for deliverables.
  • Facilitating design reviews to uphold quality standards.
  • Promoting technical excellence and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organization.
  • Leading investigations into root causes and implementing containment strategies for field issues.
  • Developing specialized knowledge around unique design variations stemming from our niche market.
  • Assisting in engine assembly by promptly addressing technical challenges.
  • Defining and documenting instrumentation needs for engine testing.
  • Executing comprehensive engine testing protocols.
  • Ensuring adherence to engineering standards and the GE Toll Gate process.
  • Collaborating with other GE divisions, internal and external clients, and suppliers as necessary.
  • Providing technical insights to cross-functional teams to enhance or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field challenges.
  • Effectively communicating technical recommendations through the analysis and presentation of data to both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced engine design or systems integration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering with Gas Turbine Engines (GTEs).
  • Hands-on experience with engine testing for GTEs.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with a proven track record in project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to guide and influence team members effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering technologies and tools.
This role necessitates access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers will depend on the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government.
