Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified ESL Lead Instructor to join our Family Literacy Program at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ESL classes to adults, developing curriculum, and working with students to achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Teach ESL classes to adults using a variety of teaching methods and materials
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of adult learners
  • Work with students to set and achieve academic goals
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure program goals are met
  • Attend professional development workshops and training sessions
  • Perform record keeping and reporting responsibilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
  • Current CDE Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) or receipt of certification within two years
  • Two to three years' minimum experience with adult learners
  • Knowledge and practice of current ESL and adult education theory
  • Ability to create presentations and work under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in ESL or related field
  • Fluency in a language other than English (Spanish preferred)
  • Experience with standard educational assessment tools (CASAS & Best Plus)
