Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified ESL Lead Instructor to join our team at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching adult learners in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging ESL lessons to adult students using current curriculum and teaching methods
  • Teach classes at off-site locations in the greater metro area, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with Family Literacy staff to plan parent enrichment and intergenerational learning activities with families
  • Represent the University positively to community partners and at off-site teaching locations
  • Perform record keeping and reporting responsibilities, as well as other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field; or a certificate in TESOL (e.g. CELTA or equivalent)
  • Current CDE Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) or receipt of certification within two years
  • Two to three years' experience working with adult learners
  • Knowledge and practice of current ESL and adult education theory
  • Ability to create presentations and work under pressure
  • Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in ESL or a related field
  • Fluency in a language other than English (Spanish preferred) or intermediate skills with experience of long-term language study
  • Experience with standard educational assessment tools (CASAS & Best Plus)
