Job Overview

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks that meet the needs of our internal and external constituents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with experience in Cisco routing and switching. Telecommunications experience is also preferred. Additionally, certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are highly valued.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will work closely with our Information Security team, Systems Administrators, and Engineers to ensure the security and integrity of our network. You will also be responsible for providing complex technical support for computer and network systems, and carrying out novel and/or complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement computer networks that meet internal and external constituent needs.
  • Integrate computer and network systems into the Blue Cross VT network, extended network (private/hybrid cloud), and worldwide Internet access.
  • Provide complex technical support for computer and network systems, and carry out novel and/or complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Work with contracted consultants on installing, maintaining, repairing, modifying, and troubleshooting complex communication and electronics equipment (telephony, call centers).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science field or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of network experience, including Cisco routing and switching.
  • Telecommunications experience preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCNP or CCNA preferred, with a strong focus on good information security practices.
