Patient Care Specialist

The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in supporting registered professional nurses in patient care. This position encompasses a variety of essential job functions, including welcoming patients, preparing them for assessments and procedures, drawing blood, performing EKGs, and ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Welcoming Patients: Greet patients and verify their identification bracelets to ensure accurate care.
- Preparing Patients: Prepare patients for assessments, physical examinations, and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Phlebotomy and EKG Services: Draw intravenous or capillary blood using proper aseptic collection techniques and perform EKGs as directed by medical staff.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the presence, functionality, and cleanliness of all necessary equipment, including medical devices and supplies.
- Patient Transport: Assist with transporting patients to departments or units as requested.
- Personal Care: Provide direct hygiene and comfort care to patients, including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making.
- Vital Signs and Specimen Collection: Take vital signs, document results, and collect specimens as directed by medical staff.
- Inventory Management: Check inventory levels and restock supplies as needed to maintain a well-stocked and organized work environment.
- Room Preparation: Ensure the patient room is prepared for admission, including cleaning and organizing the space.
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician with completed PCT program (including Phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistant courses).
- At least one (1) year of PCT or CNA experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
