Job Title: Senior Physician Psychiatrist

This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as Senior Physician Psychiatrist- SES. The position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participation in the Multidisciplinary Treatment Team for each resident, working collaboratively to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Evaluate male patients with mental disorders, manage their course of treatment, and help prepare them to confront their legal situation as described in Chapter 916.
  • Completion of a psychiatric evaluation on every resident being admitted, initiating admission orders and developing a preliminary treatment plan.
  • Takes lead responsibility for prescribing and monitoring the use of psychotropic medications.
  • Works closely with the Clinic Physician, Dentist, and Health Care Coordinators to monitor the general health and dental needs of each resident.
  • Completes documentation for the Clinical Record in a timely manner, and works collaboratively to insure that Clinical Summaries meet statutory deadlines for submission to the courts.
  • Takes responsibility to see that required periodic psychiatric assessments are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Testifies in court as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Licensure as a physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes, and two years of post-licensure professional experience in the practice of medicine;
  • A current public psychiatry certificate issued by the Florida Board of Medical Examiners pursuant to Section, Florida Statutes.
  • Certification by a recognized board in a medical specialty area can substitute for the required experience.
