Position Overview

The primary objective of the Rehabilitation Counselor is to assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired in overcoming significant barriers to employment. This role involves implementing a structured rehabilitation program that includes job development, placement services, and direct engagement with local employers to facilitate successful employment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively promote awareness of vocational rehabilitation services to potential clients and referral sources, including healthcare professionals and social service agencies.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and initial interviews to determine client eligibility for services.

• Collaborate with clients to develop Individualized Employment Plans (IPE) that align with their skills, interests, and career aspirations.

• Coordinate and authorize necessary services to enhance client employment opportunities.

• Facilitate job development and placement in accordance with the established employment goals of clients.

• Engage in outreach initiatives to educate eye care providers and increase referral rates to the agency.

• Ensure compliance with federal eligibility criteria during case management and service provision.
