Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide complex care to individuals with medical, mental health, and behavioral health issues in a state-supported living center setting.

Key Responsibilities:
Administer medications and treatments orally, rectally, internally, or by injection.
Make rounds and/or home visits as needed and work in other locations at the SSLC as needed.
Demonstrate competency in performing complex technical nursing tasks and procedures in accordance with HHSC, SSLC, and state regulations.
Collect specimens for laboratory examination and conduct appropriate screening tests when requested by lab personnel.
Monitor individuals' weight, diet, feedings, and vital signs.
Instruct direct support professionals on how to monitor individuals after a treatment or procedure using instruction sheets.
Timely and accurately document and report pertinent treatments and observations in the individual's medical record.

Requirements:
Knowledge of nursing care standards, nursing procedures, and techniques, and of the principles and processes used in providing appropriate patient care.
Knowledge of emergency procedures and emergency equipment, i.e., CPR, and ability to assess and care for residents and/or staff members in emergency situations.
Knowledge of state and federal laws and Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF-IID) rules, regulations, policy, and procedures related to State Supported Living Center or ability to quickly gain that knowledge.
Skills in using reasoning to identify problems and in considering appropriate resolution of situations.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and delivery of health services; to interpret policies and procedures; to interpret health care regulations; to recognize patterns of medical necessity treatment; and to plan, assign, and/or oversee the work of others.
Ability to provide patient care to a wide variety of individuals with complex medical, mental health, and/or behavioral health issues.
Ability to prepare and maintain records and to use an electronic health record system.
Ability to communicate effectively and to instruct others.
