Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the SCADA Integration and Testing team within the Fuels Automation laboratory.
- Design, maintain, and improve intricate control systems based on established requirements. Conduct reviews and tests of automated control components to ensure compliance with design specifications and document testing outcomes.
- Apply appropriate development and design methodologies suited to the operational environment. Contribute insights into system design components, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the integration of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS), Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS), and Free and Open-Source (FOSS) solutions.
Essential Qualifications:
- At least ten (10) years of experience in industrial controls, instrumentation, and automation.
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. An additional six years of experience may be considered in lieu of educational qualifications.
- Proficiency with complex electrical and electronic systems, including System Analysis, Systems Architecture, and Test and Evaluation support.
- Willingness to travel for short-term assignments as required.
- Possession of a valid US passport for potential international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Wonderware/AVEVA.
- Experience in SCADA programming and implementation.
- Proficient in software development, including Structured Text, SQL, and C Sharp.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming (e.g., Modicon).
- Familiarity with industrial controls in water/wastewater treatment facilities.
- Experience with fire alarm control systems (FACP).
- Knowledge of industrial controls in petroleum and chemical plants.
- Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).
Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain stationary for approximately 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move around the office to access various equipment.
- Operate a computer and other office machinery, such as printers and copiers.
- Position oneself to maintain computers in the lab, including under desks.
- Frequently communicate with colleagues and management, which may involve delivering presentations and exchanging information accurately.
