Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing expert, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to patients and families in the labor and delivery unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in perinatal nursing and be able to work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate ability to triage incoming patient requests for services.
  • Deliver patient education to facilitate plan of care, empower informed healthcare choices, and promote optimal wellness.
  • Demonstrate ability to delegate care appropriately and according to Colorado statute.
  • Demonstrate competent healthcare assessment skills, prioritizing skills, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle high telephone volume of patient requests for medications, information, and assistance.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist in procedures as needed; consistently adhering to patient safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate patient care with other physician practices, Vail Health, and others as needed to achieve the highest possible level of patient care and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Deliver excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.
  • Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • One-year clinical experience required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks effectively. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and to stand for long periods of time.

Nature and Scope:

This position requires the ability to work independently and to make decisions in a timely manner. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Position Urgency:

This position is a normal urgency position.

Shifts:

This position requires rotating shifts, including 3x12s.

State License Details:

This position requires a current active license in the state of Colorado.
