Senior Construction Inspector

M&J Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Inspector to join our team for a night paving project on the NYS Thruway between Kingston and Saugerties, NY.
Job Summary:The Senior Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and observing construction activities and completed work for conformance to the contract documents. This includes communication with the contractor, Owner, and relevant stakeholders, performing minimum testing requirements to ensure materials used conform to specifications, and ensuring construction activities comply with the contract, specifications, and engineering principles.

- Ensure construction activities comply with contract, specifications, and engineering principles
- Communicate project-related data with client, contractor, and inspection staff to track and record quantities of materials received or used, complete daily reports, maintain daily construction and inspection logs as required, along with applicable progress reports
- Enforce safety and work zone traffic control plans and perform all other related duties as assigned
Requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant construction experience; NYSTA or NYSDOT construction inspection experience is desired. Must possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent and maintain one of the following licenses/certifications:
- Valid NICET Level III or higher Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction or equivalent experience preferred but not required
- NYSDOT or NYSTA paving experience preferred
- Ability to perform quantity and engineering computations, and to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Understand fundamentals of necessary inspection codes and requirements to carry out testing and must be detail oriented
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills
- Requires a valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites for site inspections
