Job Summary:
M&J Engineering, a leading provider of multi-discipline consulting services, is seeking an experienced Highway Construction Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction activities and completed work conform to contract documents, specifications, and engineering principles.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and observe construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and engineering principles.
- Communicate with contractors, clients, and colleagues to clarify project details and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Perform minimum testing requirements to ensure that materials used conform to specifications.
- Track and record quantities of materials received or used, complete daily reports, and maintain daily construction and inspection logs as required.
- Maintain construction safety practices and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in construction inspection, preferably with NYSDOT or other DOT experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; AS degree or higher in Engineering or Sciences preferred.
- Valid NICET Level II or higher Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites for site inspections.
