Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Prepared Foods Order Writer to join our team at Whole Foods Market. This role is responsible for purchasing and replenishing food products, monitoring inventory control, and participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing and Replenishment: Purchase and replenish food products through proper buying procedures, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits, controlling spoilage and shrink, and achieving turn goals.
  • Customer Service: Assist with counter service and cooks as scheduled or as necessary, providing excellent customer service and addressing customer needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communication: Communicate with Kitchen Manager/Chef and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues, maintaining a positive working relationship with vendors.
  • Financial Management: Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, working with Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader(s) to cost recipes.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 1+ years of Buying/Merchandising experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Extensive product knowledge, ability to create and negotiate price bids, strong basic math skills, and knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day, and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
