Job Title: Assistant Elementary Teacher

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Assistant Elementary Teacher to join our team at One City Early Learning Centers Inc. As an Assistant Elementary Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality learning experience for our students.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Elementary Teacher will assist the Lead Classroom Teacher in creating a safe, collaborative, and intellectually challenging learning environment for all students. This includes helping to establish a classroom culture that promotes self-esteem, independence, and individuality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and execution of units of study and lesson plans that align with state standards and promote students' in-depth understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Help monitor and supervise effective classroom and school-wide structures that promote active, student-driven learning and positive student behavior and safety.
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly, academically-focused classroom environment and effective management of instructional materials and records.
  • Keep current in knowledge and practice of the curriculum, child development, and relevant theories of learning, and be willing to share knowledge for continual improvement of One City's educational program and curriculum.
  • Assist in ongoing curriculum reviews, including offering feedback on school and program effectiveness.
  • Become acquainted with supplemental materials and services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
  • Build and maintain positive and engaging relationships with parents/families and work cooperatively with them to strengthen the educational program for their children.
  • Engage in effective community building, including rituals and traditions that build a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in regular and ongoing professional development efforts and work collaboratively with grade-level planning to constantly improve professional practice.
  • Participate fully and positively in a staff culture and the relentless pursuit of our mission.
  • Work cooperatively with grade-level and the school team in all areas of instruction, assessment, documentation, parent/guardian involvement, and classroom management.

Role-Specific Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of childhood development and various instructional approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, parents, and coworkers.
  • Patient, creative, and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to a charter school model and environment.
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of One City.
  • Commitment to working with children from diverse racial/cultural populations and their families.
  • Ability to regularly and routinely lift and push at least 50 pounds.
  • Completion of a background check required.
