Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) Job Description

At Saint Mary's Medical Center, we are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in the diagnostic process by providing high-quality ultrasound images that assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interact with patients to explain the procedure, obtain relevant medical history, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Operate ultrasound machines to produce real-time images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow.
  • Use a handheld transducer to transmit high-frequency sound waves into the body and capture the returning echoes to create images.
  • Interpret ultrasound images in real-time to assess the structure, size, shape, and function of organs and tissues within the body.
  • May perform Doppler ultrasound studies to evaluate blood flow patterns and detect abnormalities such as vascular occlusions, stenosis, or thrombosis.
Requirements:
  • RDMS (ARDMS) or S (ARRT) certification in at least one body or region required within 90 days of hire and maintain.
  • Graduate an accredited ultrasound program or current certification as identified in #1 and graduation within 90 days of hire.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate.
  • Proficient computer skills.
