Job Summary:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to critically ill neonates and their families. With a strong focus on quality and safety, you will work collaboratively with the medical team to develop and implement evidence-based care plans that promote optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement standards of care for neonatal patients, assessing their needs and planning their care with the nursing staff.
• Conduct and participate in patient rounds, providing direct care based on patient needs and collaborating with the medical team to ensure comprehensive care.
• Foster the educational development of families and staff by identifying their educational needs and planning for their education, developing educational materials, and coordinating and presenting educational programs and conferences.
• Act as a preceptor and mentor for new employees and students, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in the NICU.
• Participate in the review, development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures related to neonatal care, ensuring that they are aligned with the organization's quality and safety goals.
• Utilize research methods to support and advance nursing practice, identifying researchable clinical nursing problems and disseminating information from current research in neonatology.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Process in the unit, contributing to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years full-time experience in neonatal nursing in a NICU equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU.
• RN licensed by the State of California, holding a Master's and/or doctoral degree in Nursing, and CNS licensed by the State Board of Registered Nursing as a CNS.
• Current certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from a nationally accredited organization, such as the NCC or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), and current BLS ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of neonatal intensive care and the needs of neonatal patients and their families, as well as skill in providing care to critically ill neonates and their families.
