General Job Overview:


Under the guidance of the Welding Group Leader or Supervisor, the Metal Fabrication Specialist interprets customer specifications and utilizes a traveler to construct and weld components, ensuring the production of top-tier products at competitive costs while adhering to departmental performance metrics and delivery timelines, in alignment with company policies and procedures.

A Class A Welder possesses the skills to execute all facets of welding tasks. Capable of handling diverse projects while consistently achieving or surpassing cycle times, they can fabricate from blueprints independently. They also collaborate with engineering teams to develop fixtures and prototypes. Certification capability is essential.

Requires minimal supervision and demonstrates advanced skills in blueprint interpretation and understanding of welding symbols.


Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant knowledge gained through education or prior experience
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move 25-50 pounds
- Meet minimum 20/20 vision standards (with corrective lenses if necessary)
- Achieve a minimum score on the in-house welding assessment
- Proficient in setting up welding machines and producing quality welds for both MIG and TIG
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
- Familiarity with the metric system is preferred
- Accurately measure and layout locations for welded components
- Adjust welding techniques as required for varying steel thicknesses
- Operate tools such as grinders, drills, band saws, and torches
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation and records
- Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain departmental cleanliness standards

Specific Responsibilities:
- Utilize MIG and/or TIG welding techniques to join components as per blueprints and traveler documentation


While executing job responsibilities, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Specific vision capabilities necessary for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must maintain a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and comply with quality standards to ensure timely project completion.

- Verify part numbers prior to product assembly according to customer specifications
- Inform the supervisor of any part shortages before depletion

Protective Equipment Requirements:
- Must provide personal welding helmet and safety footwear

- Required to use safety glasses, welding helmets, grinding shields, fitted clothing without tears, hearing protection, and gloves.
