Role SummaryJohn Marshall Bank is seeking a dedicated Loan Administrator I to join our Commercial Real Estate division. This role involves direct collaboration with the Senior Vice President of the Commercial Real Estate Team, focusing on essential administrative tasks that facilitate the origination of new commercial loans and the management of our lending portfolio.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Department Manager and Portfolio Manager, including credit file setup and maintenance, managing maturities, past dues, and exceptions.
- Oversee loan closings, ensuring the accurate transfer of credit files to the Credit department.
- Assist with underwriting requests and maintain in-house loan documentation.
- Conduct various filing tasks and prepare detailed reports, identifying sales opportunities for the Bank and referring them to the appropriate personnel.
- Act as a secondary contact for current and prospective clients, coordinating communication and follow-up activities with loan officers.
- Promote Bank products and services to enhance customer relationships.
- Address inquiries from customers and interdepartmental staff regarding the status of commercial loan and deposit transactions.
- Investigate issues and provide timely, accurate solutions to any problems encountered.
- Gather and review preliminary documentation from clients necessary for loan underwriting, including articles of incorporation, tax reports, and appraisals.
- Notify underwriters of any irregularities in relation to standard underwriting guidelines.
- Coordinate with external attorneys for loan documentation concerning insurance and compliance checks.
- Manage the loan pipeline to ensure accurate closing dates.
- Follow up on tickler files to ensure compliance with loan covenants and conditions, preparing correspondence to clients as needed.
- Contact clients to obtain essential information such as financial statements, ensuring all items are addressed for appropriate action.
- Regularly clear the Exceptions Report to maintain operational efficiency.
Required:
- Experience in the Commercial Real Estate sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with the commercial lending process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- High level of trust and credibility.
- Strong organizational skills with the capability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience with loan documentation.
- Familiarity with Laser Pro systems.
- Notary Public certification is a plus.
- Self-motivated with strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong focus on customer service.
