Police Fleet Coordinator

As a Police Fleet Coordinator, you will play a vital role in overseeing the maintenance and repair of the police vehicle fleet. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all equipment is supplied and maintained to meet the operational needs of the police department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a precise inventory of police vehicles and associated aftermarket equipment.
- Prioritize and manage daily preventative maintenance and repair work orders, coordinating with third-party service providers as necessary.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for issues related to in-car technology, including mobile computers, two-way radios, mobile digital video recorders, and emergency lighting systems.
Additional Duties:
- Conduct quality assurance checks on new police vehicles to ensure compliance with up-fitting specifications before they are deployed.
- Assist with special projects, including the development of annual preventative maintenance schedules and equipment upgrades.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of fleet management and related programs. Familiarity with PC-based vehicle maintenance tracking systems. Knowledge of automotive service and maintenance requirements. Understanding of mechanical repair principles and practices. Awareness of state standards for motor vehicles and equipment.
Strong skills in data organization and record-keeping. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations. Proficient in clear and legible written communication.
Competence in forecasting material and supply needs, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times. Skills in diagnosing operational defects and wear on vehicle components. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public, both orally and in writing.
Ability to utilize basic PC systems and interpret instructions related to automotive repair and service schedules.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma is required, along with one year of experience in vehicle maintenance and basic computer operations. A valid Texas Operator's License, Class C, is necessary. Pre-employment physical assessments will include drug/alcohol testing and a motor vehicle record check.
