Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees within the hospital. This is a critical role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital areas to prevent and detect crime, and to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Investigate complaints and incidents, and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Provide customer service and respond to inquiries and requests from patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest security practices and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Special State Police license preferred.
  • BLS, CPR, and First Responder certification required within 120 days of hire.
  • MOAB certification required within 120 days of hire.
Working Conditions

The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to stand, walk, and run for extended periods. The officer will also be required to lift 50 pounds and to use force to subdue, arrest, or restrain individuals if necessary.
