The Commercial and Strategy Management (CSM) team operates within the Manufacturing Design Organization, focusing on commercial strategy, negotiations, and cost management for mechanical enclosure components across Apple's product lines.
The CSM team is instrumental in enabling new product features at reduced costs while continuously enhancing competition within the current and future supply chain.
The responsibilities of the CSM team encompass commercial activities ranging from the selection of new product suppliers to ongoing cost management and total cost agreements across various business lines.
Utilizing our access to Apple's comprehensive enclosure portfolio, we negotiate innovative and beneficial agreements within the supply chain, fostering new partnerships and ensuring competitive cost dynamics within the existing supplier base.
This role demands the development and execution of inventive commercial strategies, which may incorporate advanced auction and game theory methodologies.Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize strong analytical, financial, and negotiation skills to formulate both short-term and long-term strategies and cost discussions with manufacturing partners.
- Collaborate closely with Global Supply Managers, other Operations teams, and Engineering teams to identify new design cost opportunities and optimize supplier selection for enhanced commercial and cost leverage.
- Create and implement innovative and unique agreements that facilitate reduced costs for Apple across multiple business lines.
- Prepare quarterly negotiation proposals leveraging Apple's production plans to secure favorable agreements that lower component costs for our products.
- Conduct thorough analyses of should-cost and bottom-up cost models to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost improvements, including the evaluation of new or alternative processes.
- Develop and present internal cost roadmaps and updates for discussions and reviews at the executive level.
- Assist in shaping the long-term supplier roadmap, focusing on diversifying both the number of suppliers and geographic representation.
5+ years of experience in supply chain development, sourcing management, and cost negotiation. A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Industrial Engineering (BSIE), or equivalent experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to switch between strategic and detail-oriented thinking. Strong problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities, excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence across various functional teams. Adaptability to dynamic and rapidly changing environments is essential. Outstanding communication skills, capable of thriving in multinational settings, and driven by achieving remarkable objectives. Technical acumen in mechanical processes and product design fundamentals to effectively negotiate.
At Apple, base pay is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a defined range.
The base pay range for this position is between $165,500 and $293,800, with actual pay depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees have the opportunity to participate in discretionary employee stock programs.Employees may also be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
