The Community Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting the Society of St. Vincent de Paul South Pinellas, Inc. in achieving its mission to alleviate pain and suffering among veterans and their families.

As a Peer Mentor, you will provide direct outreach and pre-screening to potential individuals interested in enrolling in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program. You will possess a clear understanding of the service delivery system and the resources available for veterans and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Outreach: Identify locations frequented by potential veteran applicants, provide direct outreach to veterans and their families in their naturally occurring environments, engage and build rapport with the target population, and provide identification of and pre-screening for eligibility of potential applicants.
  • Support: Provide peer support, mentoring, and coaching to SSVF participants through assistance in navigating and accessing veteran and mainstream resources, accompany veterans to appointments when appropriate, and facilitate discussion and training in peer groups as determined by the Case Management team.
  • Networking: Attend agency, community, and supervisory meetings as needed, maintain working relationships with community agencies to provide comprehensive services to participants, and maintain working relationships with veteran-serving organizations.

Requirements: A high level of openness and willingness to receive feedback/suggestions from superiors and others, ability to set appropriate limits, work under deadlines, and multi-task, ability to organize, prioritize, self-motivate, and deliver results, excellent communication and listening skills, and a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience: This position requires prior military experience and an individual with human services, homelessness, and veteran resource experience is a plus. The individual must be able to comply with complex governmental regulations, policies, and procedures, demonstrate thorough document compliance efforts and activities, and be proficient with data management and information systems.

We offer a competitive salary of $42,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
