Job Summary

SmithGroup is a leading integrated design firm seeking a highly skilled Senior Interior Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design efforts for various projects, collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design Leadership: Lead the design process for all stages of a project, including programming, conceptualization, development, and integration of strategic design solutions.
  2. Project Management: Assist in managing projects through developing project scope, schedules, job production, quality, and fee management.
  3. Design Development: Lead programming, conceptualization, development, and integration of strategic design solutions, consulting with manufacturers, researching, and evaluating materials.
  4. Documentation: Document architectural drawings and assist in construction administration, including responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and addenda, and visiting construction sites to gather information and prepare punch lists.
  5. Team Supervision: Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards, and details.
  6. Mentorship: Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
  7. Recruitment: Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
Requirements
  1. A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent.
  2. Experience working in Mixed-Use, Hospitality, and/or Senior Living.
  3. The ability to set design direction for junior staff.
  4. A varied and flexible aesthetic that meets diverse client needs.
  5. Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  6. Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
  7. LEED AP preferred.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign programs.
  9. Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.
  10. The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.
What We Offer

SmithGroup offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
