Hardware Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Hardware Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality Instrumentation & Control (I&C) cabinets and associated electro-mechanical hardware components and subassemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to develop and implement hardware design solutions.
  • Issue hardware design documentation, including cabinet or panel layout drawings, cable & wiring schematics, and PCB layout/schematics.
  • Manage Bill of Materials and revision control of design packages.
  • Compile technical and quality documentation for procurement, design, testing, and manufacturing of I&C hardware products.
  • Work closely with manufacturing operations to resolve issues, provide oversight, and ensure products meet build-to-print drawing packages and specifications.
  • Ensure hardware designs and project documentation meet applicable system & quality requirements.
  • Interface with engineering organizations and third-party test facilities in conducting equipment qualification tests.
  • Perform engineering calculations in support of design or analysis of products.
  • Support resolution of technical issues, including obsolescence.
  • Support development of test procedures and execution of functional tests.
  • Provide support to customers for installation and emergent technical issues.
  • Opportunities to travel to customer and supplier sites (domestic and international).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis/design.
  • Knowledge of typical industry standard drawings, including P&ID drawings, loop diagrams, schematics, cabinet drawings, and panel layouts.
  • Knowledge of field devices and control devices typical to the power industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment use (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator, etc.).
  • Experience in CAD/CAE software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical/Inventor) is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with Data acquisition systems consisting of servers, workstations, controllers, and Input/Output modules preferred.
  • Experience with Emerson Ovation control systems preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team, including engineering, testing, manufacturing, supply chain management, and suppliers.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.
