Job Summary

As a Security Officer for Dallas County, you will serve as the primary point of contact for security-related matters, ensuring the safety and security of county property and personnel. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol county property to prevent and respond to security incidents, including fires, medical emergencies, and suspicious activity.
  • Enforce county ordinances and policies, including traffic enforcement, parking regulations, and smoking/soliciting restrictions.
  • Assist with the oversight of screening persons entering county buildings, documenting any issues or incidents.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including fire alarms, bomb threats, and medical emergencies.
  • Perform routine police reports and forms, including incident reports and arrest reports.
  • Operate patrol vehicles and direct traffic as needed.
  • Assist Marshal Service peace officers as directed.
  • Provide leadership to Public Safety Screeners as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program.
  • Fifteen (15) college hours preferred.
  • One (1) year of satisfactory security experience or work-related experience or active military service with an honorable discharge.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Meet minimum mental and physical standards.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau.
  • Completed a board-approved 40-hour training program (level three training) and awarded a certificate of completion from a board-approved security officer training school.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the safe handling of firearms and maintain departmental firearms proficiency standards.
  • Mandatory physical and psychological exam.
  • Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
