Job Summary

The Crewing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of G&H Towing's fleet by coordinating vessel crewing processes, practices, and systems. This position is responsible for maintaining a properly credentialed and qualified mariner workforce, supporting the company's mission to provide exceptional towing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Crewing Operations: Ensure vessels are crewed in all ports of operation based on business needs, maintaining a high level of operational efficiency.
  • Fleet Management: Coordinate mariner assignments to maximize vessel availability and minimize downtime.
  • Mariner Management: Assign and monitor mariners in the training program, rotating them between classes of vessels to ensure optimal skill development.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Meet regularly with port captains and port engineers to review crewing assignments, ensuring a seamless crewing process.
  • Problem-Solving: Address unexpected mariner absences, vessel outages, and other variables that may impact crewing operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required; an advanced degree is preferred, and extensive experience in the maritime industry may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Skills and Abilities: Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Licenses and Certifications: An active and valid driver's license, a valid merchant mariner credential (officer endorsements such as a master, chief engineer, or mate is preferred), and a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or the ability to obtain a TWIC is preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule: Work hours will be assigned based on business needs, typically Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel: Out-of-regional travel may be required to attend training, seminars, or work-related events.
